Hello Nice Peoples of Friends of Morocco,

I am planning on going to Morocco for two weeks in August (yup i love the heat) in order to look around and decide where to spend a year there. I will be spending 09 there and will be looking for a small villa/apt to rent. This trip will be to figure out where I would like to be - I am thinking Tangiers at the moment - but any advice on other places would be great.

I will be spending the year brushing up my (pidgeon gulf) arabic and also hope to be writing -so someplace thats not super touristy but not a far from / or in a city.

Any advice and or help with a place to live / make a temporary home would be hugely appreciated.

Shukrahn Habibi's and Habibti's!!

    hi there ,
hmm about tanger - was considered to be one of the most stylish resorts of the Mediterranean (though it is also bordered to the West by the Atlantic). The city was frequented and later adopted by affluent Europeans and Americans searching for trade opportunities, excitement, or that 'special something' other resorts couldn't offer...... in Tanger are just a few places a visitor might want to stay if visiting, of course there are many more. but what exactly you are looking for...in morocco? like what ? beaches , the Mountains , the hot places ? Do you know how is morocco in the summer ?
I might give you a advices and probably a help!

    have a nice day.

Hmm. Tangier is nice if you can handle hustlers and are a beach girl. It's also nice if you want to go to europe since it's just across the water. If you want a more exotic experience then i would recommend some other place like marrakech or fes. although fes is more conservative so it all depends on your lifestyle. in my opinion marrakech has the best of everything but it is touristy like most of the major cities. casablanca is quite polluted and not the safest of the cities. i leaving the airport (w/locals) in the middle of the night and got attacked by theives - they threw a huge rock through the car window. nothing happend to me on other trips to casablanca but it definitely isn't the most charming city. so most important is to decide what appeals to you about morocco and what kind of lifestyle you have - then it would be easier to recommend a destination. tangier doesn't have a lot to see, it's best for the beach lover.
