OK. So we are splitting our time between Spain and Morocco this go round. We'll be in Fes 04/23 - 26, then on to Marrakech 04/26 - 30.
Any ideas on a good place in Fez? The only affordable place I found online was booked. The owner gave me a number of another good place, but I think she made a typo as it wasn't right. There's always the Ibis hotel I guess. It did look nice, but I wanted to stay in the Medina. A hotel just seems so boring in such a wonderful place. We need 50 euros or less per night.
Yeah, yeah, I know there are tons of places that you can just walk up to and find lodging, but after traveling from Sevilla, to the ferry, then on the train, I don't wanna have to hunt for a place.
Holy crap we are excited!

Re: Trip Update
Mon, April 16, 2007 - 11:27 AMI don't know about hotels in Fes, but in general hotels are majorly booked right now. When you get to Marrakech you can pay me a visit at Hotel Ali, if you want. Hotel Ali is cheap, but majorly booked, if you don't have a hotel booked in Marrakech, you can try here, if you arrive around 11am.
Either way, it's always nice to talk to Americans, so if you stop by and wants some tips on stuff, feel free to just ask for me. I will be happy to help you however I can. -

Re: Trip Update
Mon, April 16, 2007 - 2:32 PMHey Kim,
Have a great time in Fes! I was there in late January/early February.
We stayed at Riad el Yacout, which is in the Medina. It's very beautiful, luxurious, and pricey. But, they gave us discounted rates because it was the off season! The staff went out of their way for us. And, they have THE BEST petite dejeuner of any place we stayed in all of Maroc. If you feel like splurging this would be a great place to check out. Within easy walking distance of Bab Boujloud. www.riadyacout.com/
Also in the medina and more budget minded is Pension Hotel Dalila. We almost moved here. Tiny little rooms, some with balconies. Private baths down the hall, but you get a key to it and don't have to share. I don't remember the rates, but it was very inexpensive. There's also a restaurant and coffee shop downstairs. We had lunch there and it was quite good. Bab Oued Zhoun No 26, moroc90@hotmail.com, Tel: 035 74 06 57
Have a great time! -

Mon, April 16, 2007 - 2:58 PMThanks! I am sure they will be way out of budget for us... especially since April is high season. ;p I'll check into availability at Dalia. Room size doesn't matter as well will only be sleeping there. ^_^

Re: Trip Update
Tue, April 17, 2007 - 8:31 PMYou're welcome! Glad it's working out for you! Hey! I just found that German site, too. I believe in the fourth photo, where you see the man sitting on the left, are the doors to rooms 9 and 10 and they do indeed have balconies overlooking the street. And, both of these rooms have a bath down the hall. There are also cozy little comfy alcoves in the hallways for hanging and chilling out, one is where that man is sitting outside rooms 9 and 10. Enjoy!
