Hey i just joined the tribe , so i'm a moroccan guy From casablanca !! well the weather is good you don't have to be afraid of anything , but in august , it's getting Hot in some places like Marrakech and Merzouga , but i think you should visit Merzouga you gonna love it , one of the best places in Morocco even if it's hot there , and i think you should visit Meknes and And Ouarzazate too they're great though , but i think that you won't like Casablanca it's just an industrial city with a lot of factories , but there are some great places there too , as the Most people who visited Morocco , Marrakech Is the City that you should not Miss ...

3. Interracial relationships. My one concern, re: reception, is that my boyfriend is Mexican and I'm white. Some of the stuff in the guidebook warns against both mixed and unmarried couples, esp if one party is/appears to be Moroccan. He could pass as such, and we're clearly not married. Anyone have any experience with this? Am I being silly?

Well as you know most of ppl here in Morocco are muslim , but i don't think that there's a problem i've seen a lot of unmarried couples takin' a trip in Morocco , and they didn't have any problems , but if it's the case , you can look for a person who can let you stay in his place ...

anyway have a good Trip :D

My recommendation is a 3-day trip out from Marrakech with Sahara Tarvel (easy to find in Marrakech). Is cheap and takes you over Atlas Mountains on most spectacular mountain road in world (IMHO), to Ourzazate, Dades Gorge, Todra Gorge, Ait Ben Haddou (check my pictures posted in this tribe) and includes overnight camp with camel ride into Sahara at Merzouga. Temp in June (hottest time of year) was OK because you ride out in evening and back early morning. August shoudl be just fine. Marrakech is also amazing place, crazy or chilled depending on what you choose to do. Will all fit nicley into one week trip!

I'd love to get out of the big cities but don't know where else to go. I've looked in the guidebook but it's kind of daunting, and I'd love any personal rec's people might have.
I would highly suggest going from Tangier to Meknes, so you can go to Volubilis, which most tourist never bother to go to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volubilis

If you are only going to be here for a week, then you might as well skip Casablanca, or only spend the day there. It is basically just like a Western city. Instead go straight to Marrakech, then get a tour to Merzouga. The Merzouga part will take three days, but it will probably be the best three days you spend in this country.

Hi! I posted this in World Travellers originally, and someone suggested that I come over here with my questions. If anyone can give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Reading other posts has me really excited about visiting Morocco, but I want to make sure I'm properly prepared, you know?

Basically, the boyfriend and I are thinking about adding a trip to Morocco to our European travels, seeing as how we'll be so close while in Southern Spain. I read earlier posts about safety/reception as Americans/etc, which was reassuring, but I have a few questions of my own that I'm hoping someone can answer.

1. The weather. Everything says it's horrendously hot there in August (when we would be travelling) but how hot is horrendously hot? The Lonely Planet book says up to 105 F. Sound about right?
