Re: budget travel in Morocco?
Sun, March 27, 2005 - 7:10 PMwhen we rented a car and drove around the south-east, from marrakesh-merzouga-efroud, we camped at many places for free as long as we would pay the family for dinner, which was well worth it, home cooked and many courses, for like 3-5 dollars a person.
in every city there are decent places for less than 10 bucks and dirty places for around 5 bucks or less.
the nicest/cheap place i ever had was in Chefchouen (sp?) -

Re: budget travel in Morocco?
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 9:58 PMI lived in Morocco for three months, and we didn't go as cheap as you can, but I found very very decent rooms in major town for $10US a night. This was in 2002, so the exchange rate isn't quite that good, but I heard about places as low as $4-5USD/night. Then, in remote places, you can, i.e., sleep on someone's roof and get some harira for a dollar or two a night.
as a fellow budget traveler, i am always looking for interesting ways to decrease my travel expenses. well, i also like sharing stories, which most of you all here do. you might want to copy and paste your stories into Igougo.com because you can earn air miles there.
