I plan my first trip to Morocco (have been wanting to go for 15 years!).
And I also would like to catch some waves.
Apparently the best beaches are between Agadir and Essaouira?
Has anybody been there and can recommend a surf school?

Re: surfing in Morocco
Fri, July 4, 2008 - 6:20 AMI was in Essaouira for the Gnaoua music festival last year. Unfortunately, did not have time to partake of ocean activities, although was aware of the area's reputation especially for windsurfing.
There's this place that seems to have a pretty extensive website www.kahinasurfschool.com/Kahin...l.html -

I found out that Taghazout seems to be THE place for surfers. Any comments? -

Re: surfing in Morocco
Mon, July 7, 2008 - 10:16 AMtaghazout is a surfing and fishing village...was a pirate village since lately...everything changed , from the genuine hippy-pirate-surfer village spirit to wild tourism...that's why the rental is more expansive than any other village on the coast...plus that it is located only 20 kms from the "big" city of agadir...
...in summer there is never enough swell for surfers..it's a winter swelled area...
that's it... it depends only on your tastes and the level of authenticity you want to live in....
