Re: what do u think about us?
Tue, March 28, 2006 - 11:45 PMIt's a very broad question, and I expect that there are more differences within a vivilization than outside of it! Try to describe "European Civilization" and make sense of something that includes opposites like Italians and Norwegians. I expect the same would apply to trying to unify diverse groups in Arabic or _any_ civilization!

Re: what do u think about us?
Wed, March 29, 2006 - 9:11 AMI think the Arabic world has created some of the most beautiful music and poetry. Arabic music is so moving. And in Morocco, I found the people to be so generous and hospitable, it was humbling. Some amazing spirituality and devotion comes from your world. There also seems to be the underlying sense that women are lesser people, which I do not agree with. Some of the historical practices of women's rights or lack thereof are bewildering to me. Then again, in more insidious ways, this has also been true in the west! The human civilization doesn't always make sense! ...Always still in a state of learning. -

Re: what do u think about us?
Tue, April 4, 2006 - 6:27 PMHi Samir, I have not had the pleasure of visiting Morocco yet, but I have been reading a lot about the history, culture and architecture. I have been drawn to visit for a very long time now, but circumstances have not presented themselves to allow me to go yet. Hopefully in the next few years I will be able to come and explore, though I always say that there is a good chance I would stay.

Re: what do u think about us?
Sun, April 30, 2006 - 6:33 PMMorocco is not a wealthy country, but it features many art galleries and has produced numerous writers in a nation where art and culture are highly revered. On the way home after two successful concerts in Morocco, I began to understand that culture is the product of accumulated experience. After having listened to the same musical pieces over 20 times, it seemed that the music had somehow become a part of me. This would probably be true for the culture of any country. Perhaps a foreign culture would take longer to assimilate; maybe the music would have to be heard 30 or even 50 times before it sunk in. Having taken the first step, further progress is always easier. To become a cultured people, time has to be invested in the accumulation of experience, which calls for a broad-minded attitude.
